As well as our Main Functions, the PPA also adheres to 6 agreed Strategic Objectives, the first of which is providing the role of Critical Friend to the Home Office, ACPO, the College of Policing, all UK constabularies, police staff associations and Unison.
In our Business Plan the PPA has agreed to meet this objective by:
Providing accessible, accurate, professional and timely information, constructive feedback and advice, providing wherever possible the Pagan perspective.
Providing a member of staff as a single point of contact (on secondment or otherwise) when requested.
Providing information relating to other reputable external Pagan agencies that may be able to provide relevant information, intelligence and opinion.
A critical friend can be defined as a trusted person or representative who asks provocative questions, provides data to be examined through another lens, and offers critiques of a person’s work, opnion or stance as a friend. A critical friend takes the time to fully understand the context of the work presented and the outcomes that the person or group is working toward. The friend is an advocate for the success of that work.
As well as providing this service in response to operational planning and response the PPA are also members of the ACPO Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Working Group, were we provide a Pagan perspective in relation to legislation, policing
and government initiatives as a national and international level.
